Tower Equine has built a solid reputation in the area for its stud work and stud services. We are a British Equine Veterinary Association approved centre for Artificial Insemination with chilled and frozen semen and our vets are carefully chosen for their stud experience and ability.
Roger Lee is one of only a few veterinary surgeons in the country to hold the RCVS' Certificate in Equine Stud Medicine and has many years experience in equine fertility having practiced as a dedicated stud vet both in the UK and Australia. Both Holly and Andrew make up our veterinary stud team and are similarly experienced in and have a leaning toward all areas of equine stud work and neonatal medicine.
We offer optional, fixed-price veterinary packages for both chilled and frozen semen. These help you to understand what your veterinary costs are likely to be. Not all mares will get in foal at the first attempt, and by having an ‘in foal fee’ we can further reduce the per cycle price. Clients are however free to opt simply to pay for each veterinary procedure individually, and pro rata prices are available on request.
Tower Equine offers a transported Embryo Transfer Service in conjunction with Twemlows Hall Stud with mares for embryo transfer coming to Tower Equine for insemination, embryo flushing and searching. Standard insemination package and keep charges apply together with an additional charge for the embryo flush and search.
In addition, Tower Equine conducts mare fertility investigations and offers frozen semen storage. In association with Brackenspa Stud, we can also provide stallion AI dummy mare training and a foaling service with alarms, cameras and a highly experienced around the clock team.

Artificial Insemination with chilled semen

These set price packages are for veterinary work carried out on in-season mares at Brackenspa Stud or Tower Farm only.
Prices include:
- All ultrasound examinations
- Endometrial swabs if required
- Insemination
- Assessment of semen motility
- All drugs to ensure insemination is performed at the optimum time
- Post-ovulation examination
- Ultrasound pregnancy examination at 15 or 16 days
- Heartbeat scan at 28-30 days (provided both of these scans are performed at the Insemination Centre.
The packages do not include clitoral swabs, strangles serology, prostaglandin, regumate, treatment for persistent endometritis requiring lavage, twinning, caslick operations, foaling and foaling associated problems and treatment of any illness or injury to the mare or foal.
The packages operate when mares are in season. Initial breeding examinations and PG injections for dioestrus mares are not included.
*In Foal Fee
An additional one-off fee of £160 plus vat will be charged for all mares that leave scanned in foal to chilled or frozen semen.
This fee allows us to keep our ‘per cycle’ costs significantly lower than they otherwise would be. Clients only pay the fee if we successfully get your mare in foal, so it saves you money too. This is because it may take two or even three cycles to get a mare in foal, and with a high ‘per cycle’ cost, vet’s bills rise rapidly. If we don’t succeed, you don’t pay this fee.
**Keep Fees
Keep fees and additional livery charges are not included in the package prices and will be charged separately.
